You must obtain a Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) or a letter of offer before you apply for the visa that confirms you have been accepted into a course registered under the Commonwealth Register of Institutions of Course (CRICOS). The COE is in the form of an electronic code which you must enter in an online visa application in the relevant sections.
Afterwards, you may be allowed to change course for studies in Australia at the same level or on higher level, but if you have advanced from a phD to a master's level, you will apply for a new visa. You will be able to study at the same level or higher level in Australia. In addition, you can complete your education through student visa courses (500 Subclass), which specifically progress from one course to another. You may also take two or more classes.
